On October 16, 2024, London’s Electric Ballroom had fans gathering for one of the final shows by Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes before their recently announced indefinite hiatus. The sold-out venue, holding around 1,500 people, was filled with anticipation, making the night even more special.

The evening kicked off with a surprise opening act, SNAYX, who were called in at the last minute. Far from being a placeholder, SNAYX brought an incredible amount of energy that perfectly set the tone for the night. Their setlist included hard-hitting tracks like “Work,” “Concrete,” “Violence,” and “Sink or Swim.” Each song was delivered with a lot of energy, getting everyone already sweaty and ready for even bigger moshpits!

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes

As the lights dimmed, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes took the stage to a roar of the crowd. They launched into “Why a Butterfly Can’t Love a Spider,” and the energy in the room skyrocketed. The band tore through an impressive setlist featuring fan favourites like “Honey,” “Devil Inside Me,” “Wild Flowers,” and “Juggernaut.” Each song was performed with passion, blurring the lines between the band and the audience.

Midway through the show, Frank created a memorable moment by organizing a women’s only mosh pit. Placing his mother at the centre, he shouted, “Protect her at all costs!” The crowd responded with overwhelming love and respect, highlighting the sense of community and inclusivity that defines his concerts.

At one point, Frank encouraged everyone to create the biggest mosh pit the Electric Ballroom had ever seen. I found myself right in the middle of it, camera in hand. Despite the chaos, the crowd was incredibly considerate, making sure that both I and my equipment (and everyone) were safe. It was a testament to the camaraderie and mutual respect among the fans, one of the friendliest I’ve recently seen.

Throughout the night, Frank openly discussed his journey with mental health. His honesty offers comfort and solidarity to many in the audience. It’s rare to see such vulnerability on stage, and it added a profound layer to the performance.

In a spontaneous act that delighted fans, Frank noticed someone in the crowd holding a sign asking to sing “Crowbar” with him. Without a second thought, he invited the fan on stage. Together, they delivered a heartfelt rendition of the song, showcasing Frank’s genuine connection with his audience.

The evening culminated with the powerful anthem “I Hate You.” The entire venue joined in a cathartic sing-along, bringing the night to an emotionally charged close. As the final notes faded, there was a shared feeling of unity and appreciation.
