Having returned for Slam Dunk Festival 2023 for the celebration of 15 years of their album Smart Casual and toured around the uk last october 2023 and surprising us with a brand new album on the last night of tour, Welsh Rock band Kids In Glass Houses are back with there brand new album ‘Pink Flamingo’. After an amazing tour Kids In Glass Houses have arrived at The Stylus In Leeds University for their final night of tour. Support coming from fellow Welsh Rock band Himalayas and Local Leeds Support Beauty School. We are ready for the perfect night of reliving our perfect teenage years!
Himalayas
First up is Welsh Rock Band Himalayas. The slow edgy indie/rock sound fills The Stylus the foot tapping sounds are a mixture of pre warming for the last night of tour. Kicking off the evening with ‘Thank God I’m Not You’ throughout the short but sweet set the audience listened while nodding away to the on-point sounds. Newest song ‘What If…? and ‘V.O.V which was co-written with Brian Johnson of AC/DC’ Finish the set Himalayas performed ‘From Hell To Here’ with a cover of ‘Gangsters Paradise’ for there outro.
Beauty School
Our Leeds hometown Slam Dunk Rock band of the evening Beauty School takes to the stage for their final show of the year and they smashed there performance out of the water! Beauty School getting the crowd moving and swaying along by having incredible fun while doing it. The crowd being made up of mostly new fans for the evening didn’t stop new and old fans becoming one. Dancing and singing away to ‘Happiness’ ‘Cowboy Milk’ and getting the crowd following back on ‘Pawn Shop Jewels’. Beauty School is so much fun to watch live and I can’t wait to see them continue to grow!
Kids In Glass Houses
The moment we have been waiting for Kids In Glass Houses takes to the stage. We are welcomes with BBC Introducing on the stage before kicking in to the Brand new title of the album track ‘Theme From The Pink Flamingo’ and the audience becomes alive, Jumping and singing along. The Jazzie, upbeat and minty, fresh sounds just breath such a fresh air to the evening it just makes you want to get up and dance! Following on to ‘Change Your Mind’ the finger clicking slow song just makes you want to dance along the perfectly time pauses through the songs from Iain Mahanty, Andrew Shay, Joel Fisher and Philip Jenkins And incredible vocals from Aled Phillips.
Kicking in to the classic high energy songs of ‘Give Me What I Want’ (Me, Me, Me) and ‘Dance All Night’ which gives fans the perfect flood back memories of their teenage years. The energy from the crowd and stage just reminds us of all them memories of following Kids In Glass Houses on tour! Fans getting up on shoulders and singing back lyric for lyric while Kids In Glass Houses just makes their incredible set looks effortless and shows they are back where they truly belong on stage!
We can’t skip past the fact of how much fun Kids In Glass Houses are having on stage there infectious fun energy just make them a delight to watch. While on stage jokes are had with Aled’s poor Madonna microphone not making it through the final night of tour set (Neither did his microphone stand), and doing the Sean Smith (The Blackout) microphone swing and catch across the stage. Having fun with fans who have been following the full tour and fans asking for ‘Saturday’ to be played. Chants of ‘Aled’ and ‘Yorkshire’ just gave the evening the special element.
The mix between songs from new brand new album ‘Pink Flamingo’ and back cataloge of ‘Smart Casual’, ‘Dirt’, ‘E-Pocalypse’, ‘In Gold Blood’ and ‘Peice’ really does give you such an amazing mix of new and old and it blends perfectly together like a timeless set! Finishing up on the final four songs of the set was ‘Have A Good Time’, ‘Easy Tiger’, earlier in the evening requested song ‘Saturday’ and finishing on the alsoute high of ‘Matters At All’
Over all this was an incredible evening of new and old friends meeting up. Meeting fans who had been on a week long tour with mascot Graham The Pink Blow Up Flamingo. Kids In Glass Houses Fans hearing and reliving the classic favourite songs of their youth and most importantly celebrating the incredible brand new album of Kids In Glass Houses ‘Pink Flamingo’
