Pop-punk and melodic hardcore collided in the best way possible last Wednesday as Four Years Strongtook over the beautiful KOKO in London. With a set that balanced nostalgia and raw energy, the band proved why they’ve remained a staple of the scene.
Opening up the evening was Shoreline. Shoreline are a EMO punk band from Germany & they did a great job at getting the crowd going. They took a moment to deliver a heartfelt speech about looking out for the little guy which was a nice reminder of the community spirit that fuels this music.

Second for the evening was KOYO, who were a revelation. Their energy was incredible. Constantly in motion but holding an awesome pose for just a second so I could capture it made them a joy to shoot. The lighting only added to their dynamic presence and sonically, they were top-tier. Despite never having heard them before, I was sold and they went straight onto my Spotify playlist! They did a phenomenal job of hyping up the crowd to be ready for Four Years Strong.

Unfortunately, we only had one song to capture Four Years Strong thanks to an onslaught of crowd surfers. But in that short window, it was clear the band was on fire. Their sound was tight, their performance electric and the atmosphere in the room was pure chaos, the best kind!

Even with limited shooting time, the show was an absolute great. High-energy performances, an engaged crowd and a lineup that delivered at every level.
