To The Grave – Everyone’s A Murderer

To The Grave’s latest release, Everyone’s a Murderer, packs a brutal punch, combining the band’s signature deathcore sound with their unmistakable passion for animal rights activism.

From the very first track, “Set Yourself on Fire (In Public),” the album pulls no punches, delivering a relentless barrage of crushing drums, punishing riffs, and throat-shredding vocals from frontman Dane Evans. The intensity never lets up, and while it’s not groundbreaking in terms of innovation, it’s a fierce, well-executed deathcore album.

One of the biggest strengths of Everyone’s a Murderer is how the band manages to blend their extreme sound with their message. “Burn Your Local Butcher” doesn’t just slap you with heavy riffs but also adds chilling background elements like chainsaws and pig squeals to drive home its point. It’s a clever use of sound that brings extra depth to the music, without feeling forced. Similarly, “Vegan Day of Violence” stands out with its fast-paced riffs and breakdowns that hit hard, channeling the band’s mix of rage and conviction in full force.

Dane Evans’ vocals are a standout, as he moves effortlessly between guttural growls and piercing shrieks, delivering a performance filled with raw emotion. His vocal range is well-matched by Rangi Barnes on drums, whose precision and energy are felt throughout the album. Tracks like “DxE or Die” and the closer “Dead Wrong” are prime examples of Barnes’ blistering speed and relentless drumming, making sure the energy never drops.

Instrumentally, guitarists Nic Webb and Jack Simioni don’t disappoint either, keeping the album’s momentum with sharp riffs and moments of experimentation. Tracks like “Made in Aus” showcase their ability to mix in some unexpected elements, making for a song that’s dynamic and a little unpredictable. It’s one of the highlights of the album, showing that To The Grave isn’t afraid to stretch the boundaries of their sound a bit.

That said, not everything hits the mark. While the album’s front half is packed with explosive energy, the second half feels a bit more predictable and less exciting. Songs like “Terrormilitary” try for a slow, brooding build but don’t quite land with the same impact, leaving the listener wanting more punch. And while the breakdowns are brutal, at times they can feel repetitive, especially in the latter tracks where the structure becomes a bit formulaic.

Despite these minor drawbacks, Everyone’s a Murderer is a solid entry in To The Grave’s discography. It may not be their most innovative album, but it shows the band refining their sound and doubling down on what makes them unique: their fierce dedication to both their craft and their message. For deathcore fans, especially those who appreciate a cause, this album is a must-listen.
