Cassyette
Cassyette took us back to the very beginning with three nights at The Courtyard Theatre where she played her very first headline show. Having seen her at Scala back in April on her headline tour and being mesmerised by her performance back then, this night at The Courtyard Theatre was even more special and you could tell how much it meant to her as soon as she set foot on stage.
Starting off with ?Ipecac?, the crowd was singing every lyric back from the very first note and the fans did not waste a second before getting the mosh pits started during ?Go!?. Cassyette absolutely silenced the crowd with her impressive growls during ?Die Hate Cry?, you could have heard a pin drop in that room. She got everyone singing along again with ?September Rain? and ?Four Leaf Clover?, while conducting the crowd to do more circle pits and walls of death throughout the night and stopping to give fans hugs every now and then.
Cassyette filled the room with her energy and with it being such a small sweaty venue with everyone in the crowd coming together to let loose, it made for the most incredible atmosphere. Having heard some of the new songs off her latest album ?This World Fucking Sucks? on the April tour before it was released in August, it was amazing to hear them again with everyone singing along and knowing the words.
?Mayhem? and ?Over It? remind me a lot of P!nk?s earlier music and I love these songs so much, I grew up on P!nk?s music so having heavier songs but with a familiar sound to listen to now is very refreshing. She even held the mic out to a fan to shout all the ?I wish I could? lines during ?Over It? which made it even more memorable and a special moment for that fan. Next up was ?Porcelain? which felt like Cassyette was casting a spell over us as everyone watched her conducting the circle pit in awe and complete silence, it felt so magical.
?Friends in Low Places? had everyone swaying their arms along before Cassyette jumped into the middle of the mosh pit for ?Say My Name?. Cassyette put so much raw emotion into ?When She Told Me? that it made me shed a few tears before the energy was brought back up with ?Dead Roses? and ?Dear Goth?. The encore consisted of ?Petrichor? and ?Prison Purse? which really ramped up the energy even more before the night was over and were laced with even more guttural screams.
As a sucker for small intimate gigs, this show is definitely going at the top of my favourites list. It was an incredible evening and one I?ll be thinking about for a while to come. Cassyette certainly knows how to put on a show, and I can?t wait to see what she has up her sleeves for the future.
