Review: Friend The Devil and Street Corner Thieves in London, 2023

On June 22, 2023, at the Islington Assembly Hall we had the opportunity to enjoy the concert of 2 bands of very peculiar American styles, Trashgrash and Murderfolk, with the bands Tejon Street Corner Thieves and Amigo The Devil.

Tejon Street Corner Thieves

The Tejon Street Corner Thieves, a quartet from Colorado Springs, dominated the stage with an effervescent enthusiasm, bringing their unique blend of thrashgrass that engaged the audience. The band performed classic songs from their repertoire, such as "Whisky", as well as a great version of the song "Minie the Moocher", originally by Cab Calloway.

On their first UK tour, the group brought a lot of good humor between songs, interacting frequently with the audience, and paving the way for the Amigo The Devil show that was to follow

Friend The Devil

As expected, Amigo The Devil started playing with his banjo and powerful presence, bringing intense and dark songs.

The performances of "One Kind of People", "Hell and You" and "I Hope Your Husband Dies" were of unparalleled emotional and dramatic force, showing an artist at the peak of his form, bringing out the diversity of feelings and thoughts that only music is capable of awakening.

Amid laughter and applause, Amigo the Devil charmed everyone with his friendliness and talent, establishing a unique connection with the audience.

His moments of humor, the depth of his lyrics, and the beauty of his performance created a perfect balance between the funny and the touching, the playful and the profound.

We were in front of an evening that exceeded all expectations, showing that live music has the power to unite people, to generate emotions, and to create unforgettable moments.
