Sepultura at Barrowland's Ballroom, Glasgow

Sepultura?s 40th-anniversary farewell tour hit Glasgow?s Barrowland Ballroom, bringing an unforgettable night of metal with support from Jinjer, Obituary, and Jesus Piece. The sold-out venue drew fans across generations, gathered to witness some of metal?s heaviest hitters.

Obituary

Obituary took the stage with raw, old-school death-metal energy, rocking classic camo shorts and a sound that felt both nostalgic and modern. Despite their vintage look?favouring Stratocasters and Marshall stacks over Strandbergs and Cortexes?Obituary sounded as fierce as ever, with John Tardy?s higher-pitched vocals cutting perfectly through relentless riffs. For a moment, it felt as if half the crowd had come just to see them, with Obituary t-shirts filling the floor as fans screamed along to every word.

Jinjer

Not long after, Jinjer?s rhythm section appeared on a fully lit stage, followed by Tatiana Shmayluk, who instantly commanded the crowd with her signature blend of demonic growls and mesmerizing clean vocals. The Ukrainian band brought a powerful shift in tone, blending metalcore and prog-metal rhythms that pushed some of the unsuspecting crowd to their limits. Shmayluk?s presence was magnetic from the get-go, her brutal screams slicing through blast-beats on the opening track, ?Sit Stay Roll Over.? The set felt like a controlled storm?an emotional rollercoaster that left jaws on the floor.

Sepultura

As the final intermission wrapped up, the audience sang along to Black Sabbath?s ?War Pigs? and chanted to Tit? ?Police? over the PA before Sepultura took the stage. Vocalist Derrick Green arrived, towering in his casual active-wear yet exuding an imposing presence, as the band launched straight into the iconic ?Refuse/Resist.? Mosh pits kicked off immediately, fists punching the air as the crowd shouted ?Refuse! Resist!? before a whirlwind circle-pit erupted through the song?s middle section. Over a 21-song set, Sepultura unleashed classics from Chaos A.D. and Roots, closing with the monumental ?Roots Bloody Roots.? Derrick and the band gave it everything, sounding more powerful than ever as they delivered a farewell they could look back on with pride.
