Norwegian-based world music collective Wardruna is set to headline the Fire in the Mountains 2025 festival, taking place in the heart of the Rocky Mountains on July 25 - 27, 2025. This unique event focuses on the indigenous community of the Blackfeet Nation, Montana, connecting music with nature.
Partnering with the Blackfeet Nation, the festival aims to create a positive impact on the Blackfeet community and all attendees. Wardruna's participation goes beyond a musical performance; it signifies a collaborative effort to promote cultural connection and personal growth.
Einar Selvik, a member of Wardruna, expressed his honor in participating in this multicultural gathering on the sacred tribal lands of the Blackfeet Nation. The festival's emphasis on land, culture, and personal development aligns with Wardruna's values, making this collaboration significant.
In addition to their festival performance, Wardruna will release their new album, "Birna," on January 24, 2025, accompanied by a DVD/Blu-ray titled "Live at the Acropolis." Pre-orders for both are now available.
The album "Birna" is a tribute to the guardian of the forest, symbolized by the she-bear in Old Norse mythology. It explores themes of nature conservation and the interconnectedness of all living beings. The album's tracks reflect the cyclical nature of life, drawing listeners into a meditative journey.
Wardruna's commitment to environmental causes is evident in their support for the Firekeeper Alliance, with proceeds from their Red Rocks Amphitheatre concert benefiting suicide prevention initiatives among Indigenous communities in Montana.
As Wardruna prepares for their world tour starting in October 2024, fans can expect a unique blend of ancient instruments, modern soundscapes, and nature-inspired themes in their live performances. Stay tuned for more updates on their collaboration with Fire in the Mountains and their music curation efforts.
