Here's a pleasant surprise, coming directly from Afghanistan, I think it's the first band we've heard from this country, the great Afreet with their latest single called "My Land is Breaking" released in 2020.
Formed by talented singer-songwriter duo Sulleiman Omar and vocalist Yousef Shah, the band presents a modern sound based on well-crafted post-metal. Having personally faced persecution and imprisonment in Afghanistan for his involvement in the metal scene, Yousef's tireless dedication to metal music has been a breath of fresh air in a region polarized by opposing cultural movements.
The band is working on a full-length album due in 2025. In the meantime, check out the single available on the main digital platforms.
