His deeply personal debut album, Modern Errorwill be launched in May 24th by Mascot Records. They have already revealed the videos of Broken Bloodlines, Lockdown e Modern Error of the album. You can pre-order HERE.

Modern Error is gut-wrenchingly raw in emotion. Conceptually, it's a deeply cathartic album that acts as a vessel for singer Tony Maue to organize his thoughts on the trauma of being taken into care at a young age. Throughout the album are Maue's experiences, how the five band members are connected and why right now, right now, is the right time for this band to exist. For themselves as much as for anyone else.

Last month, they wrapped up a thrilling European tour with Orbit Culture, who went on to tear through Europe at the end of 2023 with Of Mice & Men. The band delivered crushing sets at breakneck speed. Their headline shows give fans the chance to see the band in all their fiery glory. They will also be joining Of Mice & Men for more dates and will be playing the Download festival this summer.

Modern Error crushes equally and paints a poignant message about the way the world is going. Lockdown captures mental challenges, and Broken Bloodlines focuses on leaving behind negative forces in your life.

There's a reason the album has such personal themes. "I use songwriting as a tool for venting rather than being poetic," explains Maue. He was taken into care at a young age, and that trauma and the experiences that followed are something he has struggled with ever since. "The traumatic memories of going into care, losing my family when I was very young and having to deal with that and adjust to that kind of lifestyle, at the time it was brutal. The only thing that helped me, and I'm not just saying this, was music."

All five members have their stories - Tony Maue (Vocals), Luke Genders (Guitar), James Threadwell (Guitar), David Silver (Bass) and Harry Jennings (Drums) - and the album hits with the heaviness and aggression of Lamb Of God and Machine Head, a Linkin Park-like sense of melody and a Bring Me The Horizon touch of boldness. Despite its heavy content, it burns with vitality, power, passion and interwoven is their view of the world.

Returning to the stage for their first tour was a colossal moment for the band. "It was overwhelming," recalls Maue. "In Southampton with In Flames, I came off stage and collapsed. I was crying because I was happy. I can't believe they gave me another chance to do that. Not only that, I couldn't believe that everyone was enjoying what we were doing."

What do the Defects stand for? It's about believing in yourself. It's a message for people to give themselves a break once in a while. Jennings comments. "It's okay to have bad days. I've had my fair share very recently. But, you know, everyone can stand up, and say, I'm going to do mine."

"I felt like I was worthless," adds Maue. "But now I look back, and it was wrong; they shouldn't have made me feel like that. When I got older, I realized that I was a good person and didn't do anything wrong. Bad things happen to good people, and you have to find a way to make life valuable."

They are riding a triumphant wave, following their European tours with Orbit Culture and Of Mice & Men, and as they move on to their headline shows, it gives fans the chance to see them ahead of the summer festivals and their appearance at this year's Download festival. They've added these shows to their already impressive live repertoire, which includes performances with Bullet for My Valentine, Funeral for a Friend and In Flames, as well as performances at festivals such as Bloodstock, 2000Trees and The Great Escape. They continue to progress through the year with slots at festivals such as Download (UK), Graspop (BE), Rockharz (DE) and Rock The Lakes (CH).

"We've always been told to strive for perfection, but I don't think anyone can be perfect," says Maue. "We're all flawed in some way, but that makes us unique."
