Laura Jane Grace just released a new single, “Active Trauma”. The song is part of her upcoming album, Adventure Club, which will be released on July 18 via Polyvinyl Record Co. “Active Trauma” is a stomping number about recognizing that you can never outrun your past, but you may be able to overpower it.
The album was inspired by a month-long trip to Greece, where Grace joined an artist residency program and embedded with local punk rockers. She explored the ancient landscape, swam with sea turtles, and became addicted to Freddo espresso. The lifestyle inspired her to write some of the best punk music she’s ever made.
Adventure Club is a 12-song collection that explores themes of love, war, trust, betrayal, and virtue. The album features the help of Grace’s wife and collaborator Paris Campbell Grace, as well as Athens, Greece-based musicians Jacopo “Jack” Fokas and Orestis Lagadinos.
