After celebrating their 30th anniversary with a European tour last year, Japanese experimental metal pioneers SIGH are back on the continent for another round of intense performances. Earlier this year, they hit the stage in Finland, and now they’re set to return for a shorter, yet no less impactful, summer tour across the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
This tour holds particular significance for UK fans, as it marks SIGH’s first extensive UK tour since 1995, when they toured with Primordial and Hecate Enthroned. While the band has made sporadic appearances in the UK over the years, this time they’ve lined up four special shows, including a highly anticipated set at the ArcTanGent Festival.
Following their UK dates, SIGH will take the stage at Complexity Festival in Haarlem, Netherlands, and wrap things up in Ghent, Belgium at Asgaard. In a recent social media post, SIGH teased that they’ll be performing some rare and possibly never-before-played tracks during this tour.
And in true SIGH fashion, if conditions allow, fans can expect a theatrical show filled with fire and blood.
Known as one of Japan’s most renowned black metal bands, SIGH has consistently pushed the boundaries of the genre. While maintaining the chaotic essence of black metal, they’ve infused their sound with traditional Japanese instruments and influences from Central Asia and the Middle East.
Their latest album, Shiki, released in 2022, continues to showcase their innovative approach to metal, following the critically acclaimed Heir To Despair from 2018.
The band remains closely connected with their fans through social media, where vocalist and keyboardist Mirai Kawashima regularly engages with followers, sharing everything from band updates to personal anecdotes.
