Don’t overlook this release. Galgeberg dropped a thematic behemoth of an album at the end of March. Cerberus is a deeply personal record for vocalist and guitarist Peter, who poured his heart and soul into its creation, laying bare everything that’s been weighing on his mind over the past few years.

Trigger Warning: This interview may contain distressing topics to some listeners. We talk about cruelty towards animals and the subject of abuse.
The band’s ominous name translates to “gallows” in English and was inspired by an unassuming street intersection in Oslo with a dark and unsettling history. Nothing in Galgeberg’s fusion of punk and death metal is accidental. Their intense, deliberate sound earned them a spot in our monthly best releases rundown on social media. From speaking with Peter, it’s clear that many heavy themes had been simmering in his mind, finally finding their release in this powerful album, for which we’re truly grateful.
In this interview, we dive into the meaning behind each track, one by one, and explore some of the darkest aspects of the human condition: questioning divine justice, confronting the cruelty of the meat industry, recognizing why Sinéad O’Connor remains a pivotal figure in music history, and unpacking how we ended up living in a politically induced nightmare.
If you’re into old-school Scandinavian death metal and know bands like Blood Tsunami, Djevel, Emperor, Mongo Ninja, Studfaust, Hellride, or Brut Boogaloo—and if you appreciate the raw power of an HM-2 pedal—then this interview and album are tailor-made for you.
