Biffy Clyro ft Witch Fever at Halifax The Piece Hall 23-08-24

Tonight at TK Maxx Presents Live at The Piece Hall, the highly anticipated show featuring Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro will finally take the stage. After two long years, the band returns to Yorkshire for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of electrifying rock music.

Witch fever

Coming on as the only support act for Biffy Clyro tonight is Witch Fever. Coming out to a sold-out crowd and playing at their second biggest venue, the grunge/rock punk style female lead band from Manchester comes out In force. Kicking off with their song ‘Blessed By Thy’. With constant movement and fantastic sound. Lead singer Amy screams down the mic while Alex, Joyce and Alisha create an unforgettable rhythm and backup vocals.

After asking for a pit multiple times, Amy finally has one open, The Lead singer’s commands to open one finally opens up and later Amy even jumps in the crowd while one forms around her, Before slowing the set down for a few songs. Witch Fever produces a fantastic set and I will be looking forward to seeing how they progress with their new album.

Biffy Clyro

It’s been two years since Biffy Clyro has at last taken to the stage and the Scottish trio have been missed. Coming out in flashing lights, full volume and ready to rock. Having the crowd clapping along at every moment. With selling out the peace hall Halifax it was always going to be a special evening.

Coming out to ‘The Captain’ (2009 Only Revolutions album) we are greeted with what I can say is the best lighting stage show I have seen in many years. Every part of this has been tailored around the songs which are being performed. Moving on to ‘That Golden Rule’ and ‘Who’s Got A Match’. You are brought into what can be described as a trance, From everything Simon Neil, Ben Johnston and James Johnston have created on stage tonight they have made sure everything is perfect. From the timing of their lighting to the amount of smoke on stage to being a strong stage presence. We are even treated to a pyrotechnic waterfall, Confetti cannons and moving lighting to hover over the band at times. Once again being perfectly timed they have thought about every moving part.

Simon, Ben and James have produced incredible playing and flawless vocals throughout the entire set. Not a second goes past where something is not happening onstage or even around the audience with lasers being used to enhance an incredible performance.

Chants are produced through the set such as ‘drip’, the famous ‘Yorkshire chant’ and lyrics being screamed back to Biffy Clyro. The show is a moment to remember what a fantastic rock show is like. At moments, the crowd moving in time to the sounds makes the experience of feeling like a family chanting back “There’s A Black Chandelier” at the top of everyone’s lungs.

Halifax has been the perfect welcome-back evening for Biffy Clyro. Catch Biffy Clyro later in the year on their UK run which all have already sold out!
