Evergrey – Rebellion Manchester – 16/12/24

Inner Vitriol

The atmosphere was intimate as Inner Vitriol started the show, warming everyone up and setting the foundations for the epic night ahead. We were treated to their new song “Impressioni di Settembre” which the crowd were enraptured with. Possessing the stage presence of headliners, and a great rapport with the crowd, the band were asked to play “another 6 songs” by an audience member on the announcement of their last song of the night “Endless Spiral”, to which singer Gabriele Gozzi joked that they’d be “here for hours” because “each song is 10 minutes long”.

Klogr

Following this, fellow Italian metal band Klogr brought an amazing and intriguing atmosphere with accompanying lighting and horror-inspired visuals. Their set mostly consisted of newer songs from the album “Fractured Realities” with songs such as “Face the Unknown”, “Gravity of Fear” and “Unspoken Words”, with the inclusion of songs such as “Guinea Pigs” for fans expecting to hear songs from their previous albums. This drew in the audience as more people piled into the small venue and ensured they’d be listening to the band if they hadn’t already been listening to them beforehand.

Evergrey

Finally, headliners Evergrey brought their melodic progressive metal to Manchester on their extensive tour cycle as they graced the stage of Rebellion. This was the set the crowd had been highly anticipating and wouldn’t be disappointed by as they began with “Falling from the Sun” from their July release “Theories of Emptiness”, along with “One Heart” mid-way through their set which showed as one of many clear crowd favourites of the night. The primarily newer tracks were brought together with some older songs mixed in for long-term fans of the band such as “A Touch of Blessing” and “King of Errors”. The set was also made complete with a drum solo, showcasing the talents of Simen Sandnes. Overall, the night was a perfect blend for fans of prog metal as a whole as well as fans of the bands themselves.
