Poptropicaslutz! brought the energy to London for 2 sold out nights at The Waiting Room

‘What Would You Do to Get Ahead(line)?’ (show)? Well, for this dynamic duo, the answer was to create a catchy new album, ‘the new 925’ (released via Epitaph Records). They are ditching their old pop-punk style for a refreshing, higher energy, genre-bending sound while maintaining their distinctive sound. The funky beats and distorted vocals really encapsulate the messiness of growing up which, combined with their poetic lyricism, creates a catchy sonic masterpiece. 

Nick Crawford and Christian Cicilia (poptropicaslutz!) took to the stage alongside their producer aldrch (synth and guitar) and the crowd went wild from the very first beat, I’ve never seen The Waiting Room that lively before! From the insane light show, synced up with the beat drops and the crowd singing all the lyrics back enthusiastically, it was such an electric performance. 

Their infectious energy filled the room, with some fans even climbing on others’ shoulders to get a better view. They started their set strong with ‘it boy’ before playing ‘the new 925’ in full as well as throwing in some older fan favourites from their previous albums ‘just in case the world ends’ and ‘Face For The Radio/ Voice For A Silent Film’. 

They had amazing stage presence, interacting with as many fans as possible, even joking that they were starting to get British accents after being here for 2 days. They also confirmed that they would be back soon, and considering the fans’ reception, I have no doubt they’ll sell out an even bigger venue next time too!

‘The moment’ really was ‘picture perfect’ especially during ‘bittersweet teeth’ as the crowd was particularly loud while singing every word back. Other fan favourites included ‘house by the beach’, ‘grandma got run over by a lawnmower’, ‘this might be our last december’ and ‘tryna get that kate moss 2025’. 

We were also previewed 2 unreleased songs which the crowd seemed to really enjoy before ending with the album title track and aldrch’s extended outro, wrapping up the night perfectly.
