It is an unusual warm and sunny day in London, and judging by the queue going around the block of The Underworld, it is going to be a packed night for progressive metal acts Rivers of Nihil, Cynic, Beyond Creation and Dååth.
Atlanta-based Dååth kicked off the night with a short but efficient set that left the audience wanting for more. Sean Z has an incredible stage presence, always engaging with the audience and delivering amazing vocals that blends really well with their progressive-groove style. Hopefully they’ll come back soon with a longer set!
Next on stage, the Canadians of Beyond Creation, bringing their prog death metal signature sound. If you’re a fan of the death metal era of Opeth, you should definitely give this guys a chance!
Cynic followed up with their set, led by Paul Masvidal and bringing special guest Andy Thomas, from Rivers of Nihil. Their progressive metal mesmerised the audience.
And finally, probably the most waited act of the night, Rivers of Nihil played songs mainly from their acclaimed “Where Owls Know My Name” and from their soon to be released self-titled album. It is really unique to witness their mixture of progressive and death metal, which includes saxophone in some of their songs, while the mosh pit goes insane.
