The Story So Far at SWG3, Glasgow

Only two months ago, Parker Cannon joined Blink-182 on stage to sing Carousel in Glasgow’s OVO Hydro arena. Now, 59 days later, California’s veteran pop-punkers The Story So Far returned to Scotland for a sold-out headline show with support from hardcore pals, Angel Du$t. This time, they took over the Galvanizers at SWG3, off the back of their appearance at Manchester’s Outbreak Festival.

Angel Du$t kicked things off at 8pm sharp, tearing through 14 songs in under 30 minutes. Justice Tripp (vocals) and the band immediately get the crowd (and themselves) amped, opening with their classic, Toxic Boombox. From there, they launched into recent singles like Space Jam, Love Slam, and the infectious singalong chorus of Turn Off the Guitar. They closed their set with Set Me Up, leaving the stage as Steve Marino’s guitar wailed with siren-like feedback that even had security wondering if the fire alarm had been set off.

Barely giving the audience time to grab a drink, The Story So Far took the stage next, smiling and waving to the crowd in a moment of gratitude. Parker gave a slight smirk, seeming to anticipate the crowd’s reaction to their opening track. Without any buildup, they launched straight into their feel-good 2023 single, Big Blind, which could easily be a timeless early 2000s pop-punk anthem. The crowd, singing every word, jump in unison without a single phone in sight—it was like traveling back in time.

Fans were treated to an 18-song setlist, five of which were from their latest album, I Want to Disappear. Tracks like Letterman, Big Blind, and All This Time have already amassed over 5 million streams each on Spotify, and the band’s pride in their new material was contagious. Performances and live sound were pristine and tight.

The Story So Far aren’t known for encores, but after their closer, White Shores, the crowd (in true Scottish fashion) erupted with chants of “Here we, here we, here we fuckin’ go” and “one more tune.” Parker and team were convinced. The band delivered an unplanned performance of Quicksand to close out an unforgettable night before waving goodbye with a smile.
