Tribulation – Rebellion Manchester – 18/2/25

After the release of their newest album in November 2024, Tribulation bring the Sub Rosa in Europa tour to Manchester, with support from the heavy yet atmospheric, Livgone. The majority of those in attendance for Tribulation had either arrived before doors or shortly after, with an hour to go before the supports commenced, this gave the crowd ample time to get drinks in and browse the array of merch on offer, of which it was evident the band had put thought into this as there was definitely something for everyone.

Livgone

Despite being the only support act, Livgone definitely made up for it with the variety within their music. By this I mean they blend the heavy riffs you’d expect from rock and metal, with emotional, soft yet hard hitting vocals from Elise Aranguren. With less than 500 monthly Spotify listeners and their first release of “Almost There” being only a year ago, they’re not a band i’ve come across before but they thoroughly proved they are definitely one to watch.

Tribulation

Tribulation entered the stage to the most fitting song “The Unrelenting Choir” as the first song from their latest album, it definitely captures the energy that will be present throughout the rest of their set. The gothic metal was complemented by the vampiric, cathedral window style background props, which added to the overall atmosphere. This was followed by “Tainted Skies”, despite singer Johannes Andersson admitting to not being on top form, he definitely could have fooled us otherwise because his vocals were spot on.

As the tour name would suggest, we were treated to 5 songs from Sub Rosa In Æternum, with a mix of previously released songs sandwiched in between, and an encore of “Strange Gateways Beckon” the first song off their 2015 release, it’s safe to say the setlist went down extremely well with the audience who were loving every second of it.
