Turmion Kätilöt: Tuska Festival 2024

Turmion Kätilöt, formed in 2003, stands as a prominent force in the Finnish industrial metal scene, renowned for its aggressive riffs, electronic flair, and provocative lyrics. The name of the band itself translates to “Midwives of Perdition,” hinting at their dark, theatrical aesthetic and thematic explorations.

At the heart of Turmion Kätilöt’s sound is a potent blend of heavy, guitar-driven metal and pulsating electronic beats. This fusion creates an intense sonic landscape that captivates listeners and fuels their reputation for high-energy performances. Their music is characterised by harsh vocals that convey themes of decadence, rebellion, and the darker facets of human nature. Often laced with dark humour and irony, their lyrics delve deep into societal critiques and personal introspection.

On stage, Turmion Kätilöt‘s theatricality shines through elaborate costumes and visuals that amplify their provocative image. Their live shows are dynamic spectacles, drawing crowds with their vibrant energy and immersive experience.

Over the years, Turmion Kätilöt has released several albums and EPs, each contributing to their growing international following. Their uncompromising approach to merging metal with electronic elements has solidified their place as a significant figure in the industrial metal genre. Their willingness to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories ensures their relevance and impact in the metal community.

Recently, Turmion Kätilöt celebrated the release of a new version of their song “Teurastaja,” featuring a collaboration with Chris Harms from Lord of the Lost. This collaboration underscores their versatility and willingness to innovate while maintaining their signature sound.

As Turmion Kätilöt continues to evolve and captivate audiences worldwide, they remain a formidable presence, pushing the limits of industrial metal and leaving an indelible mark on the music scene with their bold creativity and electrifying performances
