Genre-bending artist Native James has just released a reimagined version of his single, BLOCK, featuring rapper Double S, mental health activist/rapper, Professor Green, and a banging rock/metal track. First released in 2023, this reworking has been setting live shows on fire with its energy and aplomb.
“I bumped into Native getting a tattoo at One by One in Soho” share Professor Green. “A little while after he sent over a song called BLOCK. I heard it, ran to my studio and recorded myself freestyling – I lean into the songs I’ve made about the blocks I grew up in and amongst to get me where I needed to be at.”
Native continued “BLOCK (RR) is about all different types of people coming from a certain area, and making it a community where different cultures and people all live amongst each other, sharing and making the place where they come from unique…. I made this chorus a few years ago in my friend’s bedroom, so for this to now be a song with iconic artists on it is humbling.”
A music video featuring all three rappers is in the works, so in the meantime, listen to BLOCK here and catch Native James at London’s Sebright Arms on 6th of May in a free show in collaboration with Marshall Records, Worn Out Creative and Clash Magazine.
