‘Waste’, A Punchy New Single From Profiler – Review

Profiler have returned with new single ‘Waste’, a fresh and dynamic addition to nu-metal. Following their 2024 album ‘A Digital Nowhere’, this single shows Profiler emerge in full force. You can expect striking vocal displays, cutting lyrics and a powerful breakdown.

A hard hitting riff opens followed by distorted guitars and instant heavier vocals. The beat is driving and the rhythm is a standout in ‘Waste’. A groovy, underlying bass adds depth to the track and its addictive instrumentals.

The vocals move into melodic before exploding into raw screams adding a heaviness and power. This amplifies the discussion of suffering and manipulation in a relationship. This emotive nature follows a hard breakdown with softer vocals and an intricate riff. A final build in the track leaves a lasting impression.

Profiler have captured an atmosphere through composition, an impressive example of transporting a listener into a 2000’s grunge track then pulling them right through into a cleaner metalcore section. These seamless transitions create a dynamic track that keeps you engaged and gives you a taste of the bands’ progressive style.

‘Waste’ balances a feeling of nostalgia whilst expertly combining a fresh sound that grips you and highlights the place Profilier have in the nu-metal scene. Sonicially, ‘Waste’ incorporates all the elements you hope for, a punchy chorus, persistent rhythm and strong breakdown that draws you in and does not let you go. Profiler have clearly found their sound and easily execute a genre blending, powerful track.
