Norway’s largest rock festival, Tons of Rock, has announced a groundbreaking lineup 2025 featuring 22 celebrated bands and artists. The highly anticipated event will showcase four headliners who have never graced the festival’s stages before, marking a milestone for Tons of Rock.
Leading the charge is British rock powerhouse MUSE, known for their epic live performances and a global fan base. This will be one of their few festival appearances in 2025, making it a major draw for attendees. Joining them as headliners are the American heavy metal icons Avenged Sevenfold, who will close the festival on Saturday, June 28. With millions of streams and over 10 million albums sold, Avenged Sevenfold has long been one of the festival’s most requested bands.
In an unprecedented move, Tons of Rock will also welcome metal legend Dave Mustaine and his band, Megadeth, for a special summer performance. Machine Head, veterans of top metal festivals worldwide, will debut in Tons of Rock. The lineup also includes Dream Theater, who recently sold out Oslo Spektrum, along with fan favourites like Weezer and Norway’s own Turbonegro. The Sex Pistols will also perform, led by frontman Frank Carter, bringing their punk legacy to the Oslo stage.
Festival organizer Jarle Kvåle expressed excitement over the lineup, calling it a “dream booking.” Kvåle shared, “We are extremely proud to present the legendary MUSE at Tons of Rock 2025. It’s a dream band for us and an exclusive booking we know will bring joy to many. We’ve been trying to get Avenged Sevenfold for many years, and it’s incredible they’re finally coming. To be able to announce 20 other huge bands at the same time, including the likes of Megadeth and Machine Head, makes this a historically strong lineup.”
Tons of Rock is held in the heart of Oslo and has grown to become a major international draw. In 2024, the sold-out event attracted over 150,000 fans from 80 countries. Tickets for the 2025 festival are now on sale and you can get yours here!
