On November 20th, the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London hosted an unforgettable night of music featuring Baroness and Graveyard. Despite some initial sound problems—frontman John Dyer Baizley’s microphone stopped working during the opening song—Baroness quickly resolved the issue and delivered a powerful performance. Baizley and guitarist Gina Gleason were especially energetic, moving around the stage and engaging with the audience. Their dynamic guitar solos and strong stage presence showcased their musical chemistry.

The production and lighting were excellent for both bands, adding to the atmosphere of the show. Baroness used colourful lights that matched the album each song was from, which was a nice touch. They opened with “Last Word” and played tracks like “March to the Sea,” “Under the Wheel,” and “Shock Me.” A standout moment was “If I Have to Wake Up (Would You Stop the Rain?)” where Gleason’s vocals blended beautifully with Baizley’s, adding depth to the song. They closed their set with “Isak” and “Take My Bones Away,” ending on a high note with the crowd singing along.

Graveyard
Graveyard took the stage earlier and quickly got the venue moving with their blend of bluesy hard rock and psychedelic sounds. They played songs like “Hisingen Blues,” “An Industry of Murder,” and “From a Hole in the Wall.” Joakim Nilsson’s soulful vocals drew everyone in, and the band’s performance was smooth and skilful. Tracks like “Ain’t Fit to Live Here” showcased their ability to move between energetic riffs and slower, more reflective moments. The audience was fully engaged, enjoying the nostalgic yet fresh sound.
Both sets felt too short, which shows how much the crowd was enjoying the performances. People seemed ready to stay longer, fully absorbed in the music. The strong connection between the bands and the audience made for a memorable night that will be remembered for a long time.

Pallbearer
Unfortunately, due to London’s transport issues, I arrived just as Pallbearer was finishing their last song. They had an early start time of 7:15, which many might have missed. It was disappointing to miss their well-known doom metal sound, especially since their atmospheric set, featuring songs from their latest album “Mind Burns Alive,” would have been a great start to the evening. The brief glimpse I caught only hinted at the emotion and depth they bring to their shows.
Overall, the event showcased the talents of Baroness and Graveyard. They demonstrated why they are leading figures in their genres, delivering performances that were both powerful and engaging. The O2 Forum Kentish Town was the perfect setting for a night that highlighted the best of live music, leaving everyone eager to see these incredible bands again.
