Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are back with their new album, "Wild God".

Released on August 30, the first sample from the band's 18th studio album is the title track "Wild God", which is now available to listen to.

Watch the album trailer, which shows the band recording at Miraval Studios in Provence:

"I hope the album has the same effect on listeners as it did on me," says Cave. "It explodes out of the speakers and takes me with it. It's a complicated album, but it's also deeply and joyfully infectious. There's never a master plan when we make an album. Records reflect the emotional state of the composers and musicians who played them. Listening to it, I don't know, it sounds like we're happy."

Over the course of ten tracks, the band dances between convention and experimentation, taking curves and detours that intensify the rich images and emotions in Cave's moving narratives. It's the sound of a group strengthened by reconnection and taking off. There are moments that make reference to the Bad Seeds' past, but they are fleeting and only serve to drive the band's incessant and restless movement.

Produced by Cave and Warren Ellis, and mixed by David Fridmann, Cave began writing the album on New Year's Day 2023. With sessions at Miraval in Provence and Soundtree in London, the Bad Seeds added their unique alchemy, with additional performances by Colin Greenwood (bass) and Luis Almau (nylon string guitar, acoustic guitar).

"Wild God... there's no messing around with this record. When it hits, it hits. It lifts you up. It moves you. I love it," says Nick Cave.

"Wild God" will be released by Bad Seed in partnership with Play It Again Sam, on streaming, CD and vinyl in standard and limited editions. The track list is as follows:

  1. Song of the Lake
  2. Wild God
