Texas metal band Catch Your Breath embarked on their UK & Europe ‘Savages’ tour and what better venue for their Manchester date than Rebellion. Even before setting foot in the venue, it was clear that this show was an important one for fans, eager to secure their spot, as the queue stretched round two street corners long before the doors had opened.
Of Virtue
First to hit the stage was Of Virtue who got everyone banging their heads from the get go, as prompted by lead vocalist Tyler Ennis before going straight into ‘Cold Blooded’. Another stand out song of the night was ‘Sober’, as 2025 marks the 18th year of sobriety for guitarist and co-lead vocalist Damon Tate. The audience was also treated to a new song in the form of ‘Goliath’, which sounded just as big as the name would imply and will definitely be one to look out for when it gets a full release.
A must- have for a gig at a no barrier venue at this point is having a member of the band jump into the crowd and Ennis took this challenge on in a heartbeat, taking his place right to the centre of the pit. Of Virtue definitely set a high standard for the night, promising an evening of high energy metal.
Until I Wake
Next up, Until I Wake complete the all American line-up for the night, gracing the stage with the perfect blend of metalcore and hip hop elements in the form of ‘Catacombs’. Singer Cody Jamison even brought out bassist of Catch Your Breath, Cianan Madigan for a song. With the return of Jamison and guitarist Niko’s vocals perfectly complimenting each other, the chemistry of the band was beyond question. If you’re a fan of a catchy melody and intense screams, this band is definitely one to watch.
The infectious energy of the band was enough to grab the attention of everyone in the building and keep everyone on their feet, proving they were the perfect band to follow Of Virtue and ensure people were ready for the main act to follow.
Catch Your Breath
Finally entering the stage to ‘Ghost Inside The Shell’, needing no introduction, is Catch Your Breath, the heavily anticipated band of the night. With vocalist Josh Mowery entering the stage sporting an eye catching white coat and the rest of the band following shortly after. Mowery made his way across the stage singing directly to as many audience members as possible, making the crowd go even wilder for the band, if that was even possible at this point. During this first song the vocalist encouraged the crowd to “open that shit up” with the audience promptly obeying having been sufficiently warmed up by the supporting bands.
Clear fan favourites of the night included ’21 Gun Salute’, ‘Dial Tone’ and encore song ‘Y.S.K.W’, although from crowd reactions alone you would have thought the audience themselves had picked the setlist out instead of the band.
The band made plenty of dedications throughout their set, with ‘Good in Goodbye’ played in memory of guitarist Teddy Herrera’s grandmother and ‘Cycles’ dedicated to anyone who’s ever felt abandoned, Mowery announced to the audience “You’re not alone”. The intimate nature of the club venue made these moments feel even more special and it was clear from the crowd singing every word back, that this gig meant a lot to everyone and would be one to remember.
