Henka, who is the moniker of Cat Pereira formerly of the London-based Derange started her solo career in 2021. Prior to this single, Pereira released warmly acclaimed pop-rock and electronic songs – “Pedestal”, “Caught Up”, “Fading Out” and “I’m a God”. “I Wanna Destroy U” is her most recent effort co-written by As Everything Unfolds’ keyboardist Jon Cassidy, Exist Immortal’s guitarist Meyrick de la Fuente and Siamese’s lead singer Mirza Radonjica. The success of the song rose the singer to fame in her native country where she recently took part in “Festival da Canção” (“The Song Festival”) – Portugal’s biggest song contest as well as national song selection for Eurovision. “I Wanna Destroy U” was hugely popular within Portuguese public. Despite the public vote backing – Henka placed 4th overall in the competition behind acclaimed Portuguese acts such as Fernando Daniel, Diana Vilarinho and Portuguese 2025 representative – Madeira-based indie rock band Napa.

In her own words, Henka describes the music video of “I Wanna Destroy U” as:

“It’s a raw and unapologetic journey through chaos and release—an intimate confrontation with the anger that has been kept in the shadows for far too long. I want this video to be a mirror for everyone who has ever felt silenced or discarded, showing that it is possible to break free and express your truth without fear.”

After Henka’s appearance in “Festival da Canção”, the artist has performed a short, 3-day tour alongside Anti-Clone, the UK-based industrial metal band and she is set to perform at The Black Heart, London on 18th June supporting American band Archers. More info about the event you can find here.
