Hiraeth, new EP by The Wind Covenant, available from March 8th via Seek & Strike
The Wind Covenant is celebrating the release of its new EP, entitled "Hiraeth", which is now available via Seek & Strike. In addition, the band has also released a new single and music video for the song "The Straight And Narrow".

The Wind Covenant commented on the new EP and the release of the single: "One of the most enjoyable parts of being a band, for us, is taking part in creative and inspiring writing sessions together. When we started the writing process for 'Hiraeth', our main goal was to create a collection of songs that were exciting in a way that was unique to us. With this EP, our focus was on creating a solemn, melancholic and harrowing atmosphere. We sought to blend elements from various genres that reflect our musical influences, including melodic hardcore, black-gaze and classical music, while also expanding our roots in metalcore and deathcore. The new songs place less emphasis on riffs - although they remain a significant part of our sound - instead, they serve more as a frame than the center of attention. Throughout the writing and production process, we deliberately prioritized the emotion behind the songs as our guiding compass. This intentional shift resulted in a more personal and unique outcome."
"Our new track, 'The Straight And Narrow', explores the uncomfortable feeling of not belonging, combined with the disappointment of realizing that a situation in which we had hoped to find fulfillment ends up not living up to our expectations. At such times, there is a longing for the familiar and safe, a desire to return to a place of comfort. However, returning to what is safe, metaphorically speaking, only offers temporary relief from discomfort. This begs the question: Is going back to our safe place the right thing for us? Sometimes we must maintain the determination to persevere despite challenges. By following the proverbial 'straight and narrow' path, we can strive to live our lives authentically, clinging to the hope that better days will come. For us, this song encapsulates the idea of always moving forward, even when faced with adversity and uncertainty."
