Sugar Horse announces new album and releases new single 'New Dead Elvis'

The doomgaze quartet Sugar Horse is proudly announcing its new album, entitled "Grand Scheme Of Things", which will be released on October 4 on the Pelagic Records label.

In celebration, Sugar Horse released their new single, 'New Dead Elvis', also on Pelagic Records.

According to Sugar Horse: "This song reflects on the celebrity culture around death and its glorification, immediately after my father's death. There is a romanticization of the 'tormented artist' or 'biblical hedonist' that accompanies celebrity and music culture, and I find that quite shocking. I believe this is responsible for the deaths of a large number of profoundly talented people who have ever set foot on this miserable planet, and it should be avoided as soon as possible... Unfortunately, the crowd is out for blood and I fear this will persist until the sun swallows us up."

About the album "Grand Scheme Of Things", Sugar Horse comments: "This album was intended to be a step sideways. A departure from the kind of thing you'd expect from us... if anything. What I mean by that is that the songs are more direct. They take less time to 'get to the point'. We also wanted to make this album noticeably 'less metal'. Although we love to be a bit hard-headed and confrontational, we definitely wanted to explore the more melodic, song-based side of the band's sound. Normally, you'd see shorter, more sing-along song structures and think 'Oh, these guys are going for the gold... they want to play on the radio and make millions of blood-stained pounds'. Well... you have every right to think that if you want, but it felt more like a songwriting challenge than anything else, to be honest. We've done the whole endless space rock thing a few times and it would be easy to rest on those laurels. To do something we're comfortable with. But that's not really the aim of this band. We'd rather make things difficult and take the high road."

The new single and album news follow the release of the single "Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex" and the collaborative EP "Waterloo Teeth". Sugar Horse has also released the EPs "DRUJ" and "DRUGS".

Sugar Horse is known for its unpredictable and unbridled sound, which moves between the dark and the bright, pain and ecstasy, the sacred and the profane.

The band's current line-up consists of Ashley Tubb (vocals/guitar), Jake Healy (baritone guitar, keyboards), Chris Howarth (bass) and Martin Savage (drums).
